QA LMFR (Liquid Membrane Fibre Reinforced)
A high quality waterbased flexible waterproofing membrane used for permanently waterproofing a range of building surfaces & situations.Typically it is used over concrete & waterproofs the likes of shower trays, bathrooms, balconies & roof decks prior to tiling or surface coating.
Benefits
- Quick drying
- Eco friendly, non toxic, low odour, waterbased
- Flexible, moves with cracks & joins
- Highly waterproof
- Compatible with tile adhesives & surface coatings such as QA NSC
- Water clean up
Typical Properties
Appearance Viscous grey paint like liquid (exterior grade in other colours)
Flexibility: >300% | approx 8.0
Total solids content : 64%
Specific gravity : 1.25
Coverage
Floors 1.5lt/m²
Walls 0.5 to 1lt/m²
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry & free of all surface contaminants such as cement laitance, dust, form release agents, oil & grease etc. New concrete must be fully cured (meaning it is not be coated for a minimum of 28 days). Expansion joints are to be sealed with paintable polyurethane sealant as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Priming
Prime surfaces with QA SB Primer or QA Aqua Epoxy. QA SB Primer is a highly penetrating primer that dries very quickly & will cover around 10m²/ltr.
QA Aqua Epoxy is a 1:1 mix Part A:Part B & for priming an extra 10 to 20% water is added to the desired consistency.
QA Aqua Epoxy is slower drying / curing than QA SB Primer but has the advantage of being waterbased & is a waterproofing product in its own right but is not as flexible.
Application
Floors – Apply 2 coats using brush or roller at the rate of 0.75lt/m² per coat giving a total of 1.5lt/m². This gives a dry film thickness of 1mm. Allow the first coat to fully dry before the second coat which is typically 2 to 4 hours dependant on weather conditions.
For wall floor interfaces apply a paintable polyurethane sealant & once cured imbed a flexible geofabric bandage of around 100mm width with the Q A LMFR (Liquid Membrane Fibre Reinforced).
Walls – Apply 2 coats using a textured roller at the rate of 0.25 to 0.5ltrs/m² per coat depending on the effect & waterproofing required. The wall coat can also be applied with a heavy duty spray unit for large areas.
Clean up
While wet QA LMFR (Liquid Membrane Fibre Reinforced) can be cleaned off with water, once dry a strong solvent and or some mechanical abrasion or scraping is required to remove the product.
