QA Supa Bond
Is a water resistant additive and bonding agent for cement systems. Formulated from a pure acrylic co polymer liquid emulsion which has specially high adhesive strength. It dries quickly to a thin, flexible film and due to its exceptional adhesive properties it may be used for bonding a variety of substrates, including asphalt and glass When added to cement mortar mixes it exhibits excellent adhesion, improves tensile strength together with flexural and compressive strength. This material improves chemical resistance and can be laid from a feather edge upwards.
QA Supa Bond is non toxic and is acceptable for use with potable water.
Typical Uses
Bonding of new to old concrete or other sound surfaces
Repairing concrete floors, spalled concrete, bedding tiles, waterproofing, lining tanks, chemical and abrasion resistant floors
Wall rendering, floor screeds and general concrete repairs
Advantages
Bonding – with the application of QA Supa Bond to concrete there is no need to roughen the surface prior to application of the concrete screed
Ease of application – QA Supa Bond is supplied in ready to use containers. Water must NOT be added
Workabilty – QA Supa Bond exerts a considerable plasticising effect of its own
Surface Preparation
Area to be treated must be clean, dry and free of oils, grease and wax. Remove any curing agents which may affect the adhesion of the QA Supa Bond material. This is best carried out by the use of a wire brush, brush hammer or for larger areas a scabbling machine.
Where absorbent surfaces occur such as brick, concrete and stone etc dampen down well ensuring the surface is wet but has no free water remaining.
Physical Properties
Compression strength : 69n/mm²
Tensile strength : 6.5/mm²
Flexural strength : 13n/mm²
Shrinkage : 0.01%
Chemical resistance : resists mild acids, alkalis, sulphates, chlorides, urine and sugar.
CAUTION All tools and equipment should be cleaned down immediately after use with water
Application Instructions
Cement and Mortar mix 50kg / mix to 10 to 20ltr of Supa Bond generally gauging water is replaced by the Supa Bond
Water resistant render
Primer–2 parts cement : 1 part QA Supa Bond
Render – 3:1 sand/cement with 10% QA Supa Bond ie 20kg sand/cement =2ltr QA Supa Bond.
Apply 2 prime coats 30 minutes apart.
Allow to dry approximately 48hrs.
Apply a tack coat of 2 part cement to 1 part QA Supa Bond then render surface whilst still damp
Bonding & Bedding Screed
Screed mix as for Render mix above.
Apply 1 prime coat on a damp surface then apply screed mix whilst prime coat is still damp.
Bonding mix as for Primer mix above.
Mix to a lump free consistency then with a stiff brush work the slurry well into the damp surface
CLEAN UP Water
